ABOUT US
Embrace culture and feel luxury.
U5LOVE is a project born from the encounter between the vibrant fabrics of Senegal, West Africa, and Japanese sensibilities.
Senegal is a country with one of the richest textile cultures in Africa. Its diverse fabrics range from classic wax prints to delicate embroidery, lace, light, breezy veils, and checked linen, all in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and textures. Each piece is woven with a complex web of history and culture, including Islamic culture, West African traditions, and the influence of the French colonial period. Simply wearing one of these garments creates a profound story.
We purchase these fabrics ourselves locally and carefully handcraft each garment together with local artisans.
"I want people to enjoy fashion more freely and in their own way."
"We want to bring power and color to your everyday life through the energy of clothing."
It was with this thought in mind that U5LOVE began creating clothing.
Multi-Column
-
Daily Wear (Daily Wear Line)
The brand began by making casual clothing using fabrics from Senegal.
The colorful line of everyday wear includes dresses, pants, skirts, etc.
It was born from the desire to "have clothes that allow me to be myself, regardless of age or conventional wisdom."The overwhelming colors of Senegalese fabric and the delicate Japanese sense of tailoring.
By combining these elements, we hope to deliver clothes that will make the wearer feel positive. -
Yukata Reimagined (Yukata Line)
This line reinterprets Japanese yukata culture and fuses it with Senegalese fabrics.
In modern Japan, there are few opportunities to wear yukata, and putting them on can seem difficult.
That's why we propose more flexible and diverse ways to wear yukata, such as simply putting it on or wrapping it around your body, and aim to create yukata that anyone can wear casually and stylishly, regardless of nationality or age. While cherishing the mannerisms and designs of yukata, which have adorned Japanese summers since ancient times, we propose a completely new style of yukata by incorporating bold and powerful colors.
Beauty lies in what cannot be seen.
Product Features and Attention to Detail
At U5LOVE, we work with Senegalese tailors to carefully handcraft each piece.
In the local area, sergers (sewing machines specially designed for finishing fabric edges) are not widely used, and cut-off finishing is the norm, but at U5LOVE we use advanced techniques also used in haute couture, such as French seams, three-folding, and three-rolling, and we pay attention to even the parts that cannot be seen.
In addition, our yukata line respects the spirit of traditional Japanese sewing, while using machine sewing to create beautiful, durable garments that fit into modern life.
By using a hollow stitch on the sleeves and back to eliminate any seam allowances, and by using a triple fold on the cuffs and hem, we have achieved stitching that combines high quality with practicality.
The comfort of wearing the clothes, the strength to be able to use them for a long time, the beauty of the handwork - all of these are the "temahimo" that only U5LOVE can provide.
Message from our Founder/Designer
We hope that U5LOVE's clothes will bring a little courage and plenty of color to your everyday life.
We value culture while challenging ourselves with new styles.
With this feeling in mind, I continue to put my heart and soul into making each and every piece today.
